There are many theories about the "power of positive thinking". There are books about the topic, videos, blogs and so on. It has been suggested that by focusing on the "positive" in life, we can create a life of success and achievement. It is also declared that thoughts areenergy...that we can create positive change in our life with a positive mental attitude. Yes, but is that really all it takes?
Here is one of my favorite quotes:
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience."- Teilhard de Chardin
In a sense, I interpret this as us being spiritual beings and human beings, we simply cannot be one without the other. Therefore, without both, we are not whole. I view our spiritual beings acting out the positive thinking, but what then? What part does our human or mundane self play in this magnificent thought process, being that one cannot exist without the other?Well, I have to conclude that there must be some action taken by our human self for this great change (TRANSFORMATION) to manifest.
I feel if one stops at "positive thinking", one is missing out on the full transformation of the enlightened positive mind. We must ask our mundane self to participate in the achievement of the results that are promised by so many new age thinkers simply by thinking positively. (I myself being one of them.) I challenge one person to have a positive attitude, desiring a bountiful harvest in the spring if one has not planted one seed in the fall. How about a positive attitude about winning the lottery, but never purchased a ticket. You see, our spirits must work together with our human self to achieve that happiness we are all desperately seeking. |
